Where Robespierre is concerned, the "moment" of the Bicentenary extended well beyond 1989. In reality it ended in 1997 or 1998 with the appearance of proceedings from symposia devised in the years immediately after the commemoration. This article is concerned with publications about Robespierre in the period that followed the “moment” of the Bicentenary down to 2012. It began grosso modo in 2000 and ended (provisionally) with the aftermath of the purchase by the State of the Robespierre and Lebas manuscripts from Sotheby’s. Was this short period marked by a “return” to Robespierre? What were the main characteristics of these French and English language academic and scholarly studies of Maximilien Robespierre?
