L’École des Roches is an educational application of a social doctrine based on the merit of private initiative which fitted the project of its founder Edmond Demolins to form new elites for France at a period when the Anglo Saxon schools stood out as a model in late 19th Century and early 20th Century. These new elites, different from the state own-shaped elites, were aimed at contributing towards its economic and financial power in a context of imperialist rivalry between France and Great Britain. How have things been evolving at the dawn of the 21th Century ? Is the model initiated by the founder still carrying motive forces ?
