The setting up of a research laboratory by the CNET in Lannion was the beginning of the fast industrialization of the Trégor which was characterized by the primacy of the telecommunications and by the closeness of the research activities and the manufacturing plants. This process, wanted from Paris, shaped a complex balance between the research laboratories, the factories of the industrial groups, the subcontractors, the educational establishments… At the beginning of the 1980s, the national ambition was replaced by a local pragmatism when the “crisis of the telecommunications” generated a massive unemployment. It was only at the beginning of the 1990s, when the role of the CNET was redefined, that this area took place in the opto-electronics industry, now evolving at the rhythm of the technologies and the markets on the international scale.
